Petah Tikva
1

Petah Tikva Central Station תחנה מרכזית פתח תקווה

Ze'ev Orlov 70

Northern terminus and a bus interchange. One indoor paid option, Neon Golf - more suitable for older kids/teens.

2

Pinsker פינסקר

Ze'ev Orlov 41

Fine if you're passing through. Not worth a special trip. A walk straight down Pinsker towrds Avshalom Gissin takes you to Lake Park, supermarkets, Landver Coffee and a few restaurants.

3

Krol קרול

Ze'ev Orlov 8

Nothing for kids I could confirm within 10 minutes. A post office and a high school. Ride one more stop.

4

Dankner דנקנר

Jabotinsky 31

Your zoo stop, and the best outdoor day on the Petah Tikva stretch. Everything below sits inside Park Yad LaBanim.

Worth the trip Map of this station
5

Beilinson בילינסון

Jabotinsky 72

The best all-rounder on the line for a mixed-age family. Mall on one side of the bridge, a hundred-dunam park on the other.

Worth the trip Map of this station
6

Shaham שחם

Jabotinsky 82

Your heat and rain escape. Everything is indoors in the AMI BSR City complex, two minutes from the platform.

Worth the trip Map of this station
7

Shenkar שנקר

Jabotinsky 101

Pure office and industrial zone. Nothing for children. Stay on the train.

8

Kiryat Aryeh קריית אריה

Yitzhak Shamir St

Branch terminus with an underground link to the Israel Railways station. An interchange in a business park — nothing for a 1–9 year old.

Bnei Brak
9

Em HaMoshavot Bridge גשר אם המושבות

Jabotinsky / Emil Zola 5

First underground station. Industrial on one side, dense residential Pardes Katz on the other. Nothing family-facing I could verify.

10

Aharonovich אהרונוביץ'

Jabotinsky 117

Government offices and the Geha interchange, hemmed in by a motorway. Nothing inside 10 minutes.

11

Ben Gurion בן גוריון

Jabotinsky 12

Courts, the licensing bureau and the tax authority. Nothing at the station itself — but this is the stop for Ayalon Mall, not Abba Hillel.

Ramat Gan
12

Bialik ביאליק

Jabotinsky 75

The one genuinely good family station between Petah Tikva and Tel Aviv. If you only get off once on this stretch, do it here.

Worth the trip Map of this station
13

Abba Hillel אבא הלל

Abba Hillel 1

High-rise business district — office towers, a college and the secure diamond compound. Nothing for kids, genuinely. The Diamond Museum closed in 2018 despite what stale listings say. It's 440 m to Savidor, so just keep going.

Tel Aviv
14

Arlozorov ארלוזורוב

Menachem Begin 160 · Savidor Central

A transport interchange ringed by office towers and the Ayalon. Not a single playground, park or play centre inside 800 m. Yarkon Park is 20–25 minutes away, not ten.

15

Sha'ul HaMelech שאול המלך

Menachem Begin 130

The station for a 36-degree day. Everything here is indoors and air-conditioned. Note it's nowhere near Rabin Square.

Worth the trip Map of this station
16

Yehudit יהודית

Maklef 1 (Exit A, for Sarona)

Sarona. The best all-round family stop in Tel Aviv, and the shade is what makes it work in August. Use Exit A at Maklef 1.

Worth the trip Map of this station
17

Carlebach קרליבך

Carlebach / Menachem Begin

Deepest station on the line at 52 m, in an office belt with a conspicuous lack of shade or planting at street level. Unpleasant in August with a toddler.

18

Allenby אלנבי

Yehuda HaLevi 63

Good for a 5–9 year old, mediocre for toddlers. Use the Mikveh Israel exit.

19

Elifelet אליפלט

Simtat Aharon Shlush 7 · in Park HaMesila

The best station on the line for a proper day out. You step off the train straight into the park.

20

Shalma / Salame שלמה-סלמה

Sderot Yerushalayim 15

Street-level station right by the Flea Market — the closest stop to most of Old Jaffa, closer than Bloomfield. No playground or indoor kids' facility though.

Jaffa
21

Bloomfield Stadium איצטדיון בלומפילד

Sderot Yerushalayim 42

The other Old Jaffa station. Everything is 8–13 minutes away rather than 5–10, so Salame is marginally better — but this one has the best playground.

22

Ehrlich ארליך

Sderot Yerushalayim 94

Residential and thin. A college is the official landmark.

23

Isakov איסקוב

Sderot Yerushalayim 120

The thinnest of the five Jaffa stations. Zero standalone playgrounds within 850 m — just a few small local gardens.

24

HaBesht הבעש"ט

Sderot Yerushalayim 146

Playground-dense — four within 850 m, nearest at 130 m. Good for letting a toddler run around for forty minutes, nothing more. Wolfson Medical Center is the other landmark.

25

Machrozet מחרוזת

Sderot Yerushalayim 210

Last Jaffa stop, and the densest playground cluster of the five — five within 850 m. Ordinary residential ones though.

Bat Yam
26

Ha'Atzmaut העצמאות

Ha'Atzmaut Blvd 69

City-centre-ish, but the sea isn't close yet — 13 minutes. Go one stop further to Rothschild.

27

Rothschild רוטשילד

Rothschild 17

The beach station. Straight down Rothschild Street to the promenade. It is not, as people assume, a fifteen-minute walk to the sea from everywhere in Bat Yam.

Worth the trip Map of this station
28

Jabotinsky ז'בוטינסקי

Herzl 64 (not Jabotinsky St)

Nothing inland at all — zero playgrounds within 850 m. Its entire value is the water, and the water here is the best on the line for a small child.

Worth the trip Map of this station
29

Balfour בלפור

Yoseftal 44

The best Bat Yam station for small kids on no budget — a children's library at the platform and six parks inside ten minutes.

Worth the trip Map of this station
30

Binyamin בנימין

Yoseftal 70

Genuinely a playground station — six gardens plus two more playgrounds inside 700 m. All ordinary, none destination-grade.

31

Yoseftal יוספטל

Yoseftal 82

The mall and wet-weather station for Bat Yam.

Worth the trip Map of this station
32

Kaf-Tet BeNovember כ"ט בנובמבר

Nisenbaum 48

The industrial zone. A small shopping centre with no verified kids' facility, and the mall is right on the ten-minute limit. Stay on the train.

33

He'Amal העמל

Nisenbaum 7

The official nearby landmarks are the Magistrates' Court and the Labour Court, which tells you everything. Zero playgrounds within 850 m. Its only use is as a back door to Gravity Park, eight minutes away.

34

HaKomemiyut הקוממיות

Menachem Begin 4 · southern terminus

Southern terminus, and the big-ticket station. Nothing within 850 m in the way of playgrounds — but two serious paid venues.

Four days out that actually work

Animals, water and a toddler museum — DanknerGan HaChai zoo (₪25/child) → the free splash fountain in the same park → My First Museum, ages 2–6, ₪45 combined with the zoo. Book the museum ahead and leave the buggy behind for it.
Park + mall + soft play, all ages — BeilinsonPark Ohayon and the lake in the morning, lunch at Cafe Gan Sipur (it has a kids' library), then Pealton or the cinema when the heat peaked. All within 600 m of the platform.
The proper Tel Aviv day — Yehudit, then ElifeletSarona first: two age-separated shaded playgrounds, lawns, the goldfish pond, the road-train. Then two stops to Elifelet, walk Park HaMesila to HaTachana and the old train carriage. Both free.
Beach and a blowout — Jabotinsky, then HaKomemiyutThe Sela beaches at Jabotinsky are a breakwater lagoon — the calmest water on the line and the right call for an under-5. Finish at Gravity Park by the terminus if anyone still has energy.

Practical bits

Fares and kids

  • Under 5 travel free — but only one free child per fare-paying adult. No card needed.
  • Ages 5–18 get 50% off, but only with their own personal Rav-Kav loaded with the child profile. Sort that in advance at ravkavonline.co.il.
  • A ride is ₪8 for short hops (up to 15 km) and ₪14.50 for the long ones. Petah Tikva all the way to Bat Yam is the ₪14.50 tier.
  • Your ticket covers 90 minutes including transfers to buses. Daily cap ₪23 / ₪32.50.
  • Easiest payment for a family, or a visitor with a foreign card: buy QR tickets in Moovit, Pango or HopOn. Tap-to-pay with your own bank card isn't live on the light rail yet.

Shabbat — plan around this

  • No service Saturday daytime. Last trains Friday afternoon, roughly an hour before Shabbat comes in; service resumes about an hour after it goes out.
  • Annoying mismatch: several of the best venues (Gravity Park, Pealton, the beaches, Bat Yam Mall) are open Saturday, but you can't get to them by train. Check exact Friday times in Moovit or on nta.co.il the week you travel — they shift weekly.
  • Everything in the AMI BSR complex at Shaham is shut for Shabbat and reopens after. Bnei Brak is effectively closed Friday afternoon through Saturday.

Times and buggies

  • Petah Tikva Central to central Tel Aviv: about 19 minutes. End to end to Bat Yam: roughly 65–75 minutes.
  • Every 3–3.5 min at peak, about every 6 min off-peak.
  • Stations are step-free, but riders report recurring lift outages — and the underground stations are deep (Carlebach is 52 m). Worth a thought if your plan depends on one lift with a pram.
  • R1 runs Petah Tikva Central ↔ Bat Yam. R3 terminates at Elifelet — if you're going on to Jaffa or Bat Yam, make sure you're on an R1 or R2.
  • Folding buggies, folding bikes and folding scooters are fine. Full-size bikes and scooters aren't allowed.
  • Free bonus in a heatwave: the ten underground stations are air-conditioned, and the long escalator descent at Carlebach and Allenby is genuinely a hit with 3–8 year olds.

Ring ahead before you commit

  • DT Games at Bat Yam Mall — opened late 2024, couldn't confirm it's still trading.
  • Park HaHai in Bnei Brak — free and good, but its booking system has historically rejected non-residents. 03-577-6104.
  • Gan HaMelech David's interactive fountain at Bialik — phase 2, due but unconfirmed. Would be the best free splash play on the line if it's running.
  • Tel Aviv Museum's children's Experimental Center was due to reopen March 2026 after refurbishment. 03-6077020.
  • City Hall Park water jets in Bat Yam — upgrade announced, completion unconfirmed.
  • The zoo's Saturday summer hours — two sources disagree. 03-740-5500.

On the distances. Mapping APIs were blocked during research, so walking times are estimated from published street addresses rather than routed door-to-door. Treat them as ±15%: the rankings (which station is nearest what) are reliable, the exact minutes are not. Prices and hours were current as of August 2026 and move.
